News & Events

The Knowledge Summit was a two day event held at New Era Public School, Mayapuri  on the 20th & 21st August 2019. It was attended by students and teachers from more than five schools. The gathering was graced by Mr. Bezwada Wilson on the first day, an Indian activist who campaigns for the eradication of manual scavenging.

The event began with our Principal, Ms. Vandana Chawla addressing the crowd, followed by an inspiring speech by Mr. Wilson on manual scavenging. He mentioned how scavengers are ill treated & that he also had to face the same kind of discrimination. He mentioned an incident of children mocking each other by calling them ‘Bhangi’, that angered him and pushed him to work harder for the welfare of the discriminated section of the society. During the questioning, Mr. Wilson was impressed yet surprised by the children’s modern & innovative solutions for the problem.

Day two began enthusiastically with the welcome of another eminent speaker, Dr. Rajendra Singh, who is a doctor by profession & an Indian water conservationist. He conducted an interactive session with the crowd wherein he talked about how he was motivated by one of his patients to treat the unwell Earth, exactly from where his fight to save the planet began. He variously questioned the audience and received energetic yet committed responses. Sharing anecdotes of how he would bathe with a single glass of water & those of his theory which said that the sick Earth requires conservation of water to be healthy again, just like a cold & wet towel is used to bring down a sick person’s body temperature, he ended the conversational session by gifting a copy of the book ‘Ganga Sadhbhavna Yatra’ to the school.

Overall, The Knowledge Summit 2019 was a knowledgeable experience and it was an honour for everyone to be interacting with such noble yet humble award-winning personalities.
